1925:
Missouri Pacific depot, 302 W. Douglas. Built
in 1900, this was one of the only independent depots remaining
in operation after the opening of Wichita's Union Station.
Directly behind it at the time of its construction stood
the "Dixie Lee Mansion" -- a notorious brothel
that catered to upscale clientele. The depot was closed
in 1964 and razed to make room for the Garvey Center, an
office building.
