100 block of north Lawrence (now Broadway), looking south.
The
J.C. Penney store appears foreground in the above left photo;
photos from the 1930s indicate that Penney's would later
move to a newer building directly to the north of this one.
Note the George Innes store and the Union National Bank
building in the distance; on the right-hand side of the
street is the Miller Theater. Today this block is almost
entirely devoid of retail business.
