1929: Oakland Street at Hillside. These Spanish Mission-style houses (referred to in contemporary reports as "California Style") were built by noted Wichita photographer Harry Pottenger after Oakland Street was opened in 1919. A Derby filling station directly across the street to the north now serves as the Off the Top hair salon.
