1967: Wichita Public Library, 223 S. Main. To move the books from the old Carnegie Library (later known as the Omnisphere) to the new building, a "Volunteer Book Brigade" was pressed into service. Each and every book was handed person-to-person across Main Street. The new facility, still in use today, opened March 13, 1967.
