1998: Douglas Avenue Bridge over the Arkansas River. The 1908-era bridge that spanned the big river for much of a century was replaced with an all-new structure in its 90th year of use. The new bridge includes tall, sail-like public sculptures along its length, as well as improved pedestrian access and scenic observation areas.
